Son, daughter were caught in rip tide on Aussie beach
It was a scary day at the beach
for Hugh Jackman on Saturday, and the on-screen superhero had to play
one in real life. As
9news
reports, the actor and his kids were at Australia's Bondi Beach when
daughter Ava, 10, and son Oscar, 15, got caught in a rip tide. As a
fellow beachgoer recounts: "His daughter was struggling to get on to the
sand bar so I reached down, grabbed her arm and put my arm up to Hugh
to make a chain to pull us up on the sand bar."
Another swimmer says he helped
get both kids on the sand bar, but Oscar was swept out again, requiring
lifeguards to make the rescue. "I think he was under a bit of pressure
with the two kids at once but he was pretty cool, calm and collected, as
Hugh always is I suppose," he says, adding that Jackman is "definitely a
bit of a superdad, superhero, and he's a super bloke too." The North
Bondi Surf Life Saving Club added its thanks on
Instagram: "@thehughjackman was also spotted assisting with rescues! Thanks Hugh." The beach closed for the rest of the day.
